Main Aims

  • To give Ss practice in reading, in particular skim reading for gist and scanning for specific information using the context of amazing food facts.

Subsidiary Aims

Warmer/Lead-in (5-6 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

- Show Ss a world map and and try to elicit world and map. - Tell Ss that we will talk about different countries food. - Show Ss the counties that we will talk about and try to elicit country's names in English and ask them what they know about the country's food.

Pre-Reading and vocab. (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

-Show Ss the pic.s of vocabulary and ask them to find their names in pairs. Afterwards get W/C FB

While-Reading#1 (8-10 minutes) • To provide Ss skim reading for gist tasks

- Tell Ss to read the story and decide if the statements are true or false. Then tell them to compare their answers with their partners, get one student to write the answers on the w/b -Write some numbers from the text and ask Ss to find what they are.

While-Reading/Listening #2 (8-10 minutes) • To provide Ss skim reading for gist tasks

- Tell Ss to read the story one more time and ask them to pick text a headline out of given three headlines. Then compare their answers with their partners and explain them why they choose it, get some W/C FB Headlines: Food Types Which Restaurant is the Best Amazing Food Facts

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

- Ask Ss to work in pairs and think that they are the owners of Royal Dragon rest. and ask them to write a menu of 10 items. -After menus are prepared give half of the class the pics andt he other half the names of the pictures and tell them to find their partners and make a dialog like they did on the previous lesson ex7. - Ask one or two pairs to act their dialog.
