Description

In this lesson, students will brainstorm some words related to relationships in the introduction of the lesson through discussion and will understand and know the vocabulary of the text they will read.

Main Aims

  • To provide gist and scan reading practice using a text about love between a couple in the context of elationships

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide of words of the text in the context of relationships

Procedure

Lead in (5-7 minutes) • To activate students' existing knowledge of the topic. To generqte interest in the theme of the lesson.

I will start by discussing with students the importance of having a best friend as faras 'relationships' are concerned then I will ask them about how long they know their best friends to move to the question in HO a. They will work alone and check with their partner see whether he agrees or not.

Pre-teach vocabulary (10-12 minutes) • to encourage students to think about content of the text and give them a reason to read it.

I will ask my students to sit in 2 groups. I will stick some words on the board and give them their meaningto discuss. Once finishing, I will ask one from each group to go to the board and stick the appropriate meaning then we will check, whether the matching was correct or not. In this stage students will drill the words and know how to pronounce them.

Reading for gist (10-10 minutes) • Students will have a general understanding to get an overview of the text.

I will ask my students to move a seat forward to have a new partner. I will give my them the text ask them to read it silently in 5 min. After, with their new partners they will answer a question which is a question type of comprehension.

Reading for details (9-9 minutes) • To practise reading for detailed comprehension.For learners to understand the text in depth.

With the same partner I will ask my students to read again and number the events with the order they happened.

Speaking task (7-7 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to personalise the topic.

I will ask my students to mingle, in the onion activity. each one will ask the other about the first time they met their partners or if single they will ask about the first time their mom and dad met. After taking their seats I will ask 2 people to tell me about their first time and move to the error correction.
