To give Ss clarification and practice of using used to and usually to express their habits in the context of relationships.
To give Ss practice in speaking for fluency in the context of relationships.
Procedure (34-45 minutes)
First, T will elicit some of the issues Ss discussed in the previous lesson since the contexts are the same. Then, she will write a question on the board in the context of relationships and elicit answers from the Ss.
First, the T will write a question on the board. Next, Ss will listen to four people talking about how the people met and take notes. Then, the T will put them in pairs and they will compare their notes with their partner and listen again if necessary. The T will change the pairs and ask the Ss to discuss their answers to the question written the board.
The T will put the Ss in groups and give them a handout including the written form of some sentences containing the target language used in the listening task. Then she'll ask the Ss to read the sentences in their groups and find some similarities and differences in terms of grammar. WCF
The teacher will clarify the meaning through a time line. Then, she'll clarify the form through showing examples and highlighting the form. Finally, the T will clarify the pronunciation of 'used to' through drills.
First, the T will give a True/False handout to the Ss and ask them to correct the false sentences individually. Then, she'll put them in pairs to check their answers. WCF After that, the T will write some questions on the board and ask the Ss to discuss the answers in their groups.
