Description

In this lesson, the students will learn about how to write a paragraph. The lesson will start with a quick warm up activity. In that activity I will present some pictures of different restaurants then I'll discuss these pictures with students. After that I will provide students with a small paragraph for reading and summarization and through those two processes I will reveal to the students how can we write a good paragraph through some questions. Then I'm going to elicit the grammar part from the students and use (MFP) method quickly to be used when they move to writing task. Finally I will ask the students to write down a paragraph keen on previous steps and during that, the teacher will be a monitor and fasilitator.

Procedure

Warm up (3-5 minutes) • Set the context of the lesson and engage students interests

In this stage of my lesson, I'm going to present four pictures of different restaurants through the screen, then I will ask students some questions about these pictures and I will try to personalize those questions according to students life in order to encourage them to take a part of the lesson.

Presentation through demonstrative model (6-8 minutes) • Clarify the main steps for writing a paragraph and focus on grammatical rule

In this stage of the lesson, I'm going to present a demonstrative model of a paragraph and highlight the grammatical rule in order to elicit that point from the students. Then I will use (MFP) strategy quickly in order to clarify the meaning, from and phonological parts of that rule in order to be used when they move to writing task. After that, I will reveal the main steps for writing a paragraph. Those steps will help the students to write down a good paragraph through clarifying the meanings of ( Topic sentence - Supporting sentence - Conclusion ).

Controlled practice (3-4 minutes) • Establish the main steps for writing a paragraph

In this part of my lesson, I will do a flash cards game in order to keep the class funny and effective. In this game, the students will receive six flash cards. These six flash cards are divided into two main categories. In the first category there are some words or expressions and in the other category there are the definitions of the first ones. Students will work in one group and try to match each flash card with its definition. Then they wil stick them on the white board in order to be clear and noticeable for them whene they are moving the writing task to use them.

Free practice (13-15 minutes) • Achive the main aim and sub aim also. Students will apply what they have learned

In that final stage of the lesson, the students will go on and write down a paragraph about "building a dream restaurant". The teacher will give them clear and simplified instructions toward what they will do, then the teacher will keen on all previous steps and mentions it again briefly. In addition to that, the teacher will also mention some words they have learned in the last session such as (shape - site - colors - blend in - roof - floors) these words will help the students to earn some ideas for their paragraphs. Also the teacher will mention the grammatical rule which they will use in the paragraphs. Teacher will avoid (TTT) so instead of talking too much he will use (ICQs and CCQs). After that, the teacher will monitor and support the students if there are some difficulties to deal with it immediately. Finally the teacher will ask them to check in pairs then the teacher will provide them with the feedback if there were some mistakes.
