Description

The Lesson focuses on listening for detail. Students will go through receptive skill development by listening to an expert talk about signature analysis and giving feedback. They will follow the task by a mini grammar focus

Procedure

Lead-in (5-7 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Teacher nominates groups, asks the students in each group to all put their signatures on one piece of paper. Keep it for a later activity. teacher asks students to look at the signatures in page 10 and asks if they recognize any and what they'd intuit about those people. Ss read c and give feedback. Do you believe graphology to be useful?

Pre-Listening (3-6 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

T pre-teaches the blocking vocab through handouts and eliciting the meaning.

Listening #1 for gist (3-5 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

Teacher nominates groups in 2s and students listen to the recordings and only answer the first question of each exercise ( your surname = ) and later give feedback.

Listening #2 for details (9-12 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference listening tasks

Students listen to the rest of recordings and answer the rest of the questions on the handout. They listen again to check answers. Teacher hands out answer keys for a group check

Post Listening language analysis (8-10 minutes) • to focus on the\the comparatives in the recordings

Teacher writes a sentence on the board. Students read and discuss in their groups what they think that sentence means. teacher takes feedback from the students about what they discussed and explains the relation of the grammar. Then the students are handed a gap-fill exercise to do in groups. after getting feedback from the Students about their answers, The teacher hands them out an answer key for final checking

Semi-Controlled Practice (5-7 minutes) • Demo activity for the students to go over the info they took in

Students look at the signatures from another group. They analyze it and then try to guess whose signature this is.
