Description

In this lesson the students are going to learn lexis on different jobs. After some review of the previous lesson and some elicitation, the students will practice new items on jobs and the way to ask about other peoples's jobs. There will also be a focus on students' correct pronunciation and stress. They will, then, do some exercises on grammar part ( forming questions with "to be" for "WH-" questions . The class will go on by doing some drills and activities about their new lesson and a dialogue practice.

Main Aims

  • To provide practice of " to be" for Wh- questions in the context of personal information

  • To provide specific information listening practice using a text about jobs

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Sts say their names into- My name is......... what's your name? I am from Iran, are you from Iran too? A, Yes I am. Or B. No I'm not. I am from Turkey. Are you Turkish? Yes I am.

Test #1 (8-10 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

ask if they know the word JOB ask about its spelling ask sts to name some jobs- Elicit jobs Elicit stress patterns Drill jobs : Th sts will do PW. They were asked to write as many jobs as they know on the card and switch the cars with other groups and add more jobs to the card they received. visuals elicit: what is his/her job? He's/She's a/an ............ H/O gapfillers of to be for wh question

Teach (15-20 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

play audio file give the sts some visuals to listen and identify characters and fill out the missing information in the table. a game The names of jobs are on the board. The T will ask sts to look at the pictures and find the English name for the job they were shown in the picture. the fastest group who could find more cards will be winners.

Test #2 (8-10 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

re-elicit the dialogue: T will put three different characters+ countries+ jobs and demonstrate a dialogue, the students are supposed to make a dialogue for the pictues on the board and act it out for the class.

Free practice (13-15 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language
