Description

Getting students to learn more countries and nationalities than what they were taught before. Practicing to employ the correct form of nationalities and countries through doing various tasks. Introducing and teaching the negative form of 'to be' and practicing it through several drills.

Procedure

Warm up/ lead-in (3-5 minutes) • to set lesson context and engage students

Putting the picture of some famous people on the board asking the Ss "where is he from?" What is his nationality? He is American. practicing it as a dialogue between Ss looking back to what they were taught the previous session about introducing themselves. A: excuse me B:Yes A: What's your name? B: my name is... A: Where are you from? B: I'm from .... A: oh You are ...

Teach (15-20 minutes) • Adding to their prior knowledge about country names and nationalities- Clarifying that some nationalities end in ish, some end in n,an,ian, ese, and other

Putting the pictures of some famous people on the board and eliciting answers from the Ss about where thy come from and what is their nationality. Also putting the flags of countries on the board and asking Ss about the country's name. The teacher asks the students to repeat the country names and nationalities

Practice (10-15 minutes)

Putting the students into groups randomly. each group will have either the flag of a country or the picture of a famous person. They should form a dialogue : A:Where is he from? B: he is... A: what is his Nationality? B: he is ... the groups with the flags have to ask: A: my name is... What's your name? B: I'm ... A: Where are you from: B: I'm from .... A: what is your nationality? B: I'm ... A: nice to meet you Then I will ask 1\2 groups to act it out in front of the class

Teaching and practicing • To teach negative form of 'to be' singular

Putting the picture of famous people on the board asking the students about where they come from and what their nationality is. Eliciting answers from the students. Then I give them the pictures and tell them to ask yes/no questions about them.

Wrap up (3-5 minutes) • To see whether the students can employ what they were taught

I give each student a different nationality and the whole class has to guess it by asking proper questions.( I put the pictures on the board so that they can choose among them)
