Description

In this lesson, Ss learn shops vocabulary, talk about their favourite shops and things they can do in different kind of shops. Ss elicit extreme adjectives through the text related to shops vocabulary.

Materials

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification and practice of shops vocabulary in the context of shopping centre in Dubai.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clarification, review and practice of extreme adjectives in the context of shopping.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (6 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Ss elicit their previous knowledge on shops vocabulary via brainstorming names of shops and examples of things they can buy there.

Exposure (6 minutes) • To provide a model of the task and highlight useful words and phrases

Ss do ex. 1 on page 9. They match pictures with the words in pairs and then listen, repeat and check them.

Task (8 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

Ss do ex.2 on p. 9. They practice the new vocabulary when answer the questions in the exercise.

Planning (5 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to plan students' reports

Ss do ex. 3 on p.9. They work on the questions about their favourite shop - what they do there, what they usually buy and who they go there with.

Report (10 minutes) • To allow students to report on how they did the task and how it went

Ss report the class about their favourite shop and answer questions about it if they occur.

Language Analysis (2 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the task language

Ss go back to ex.1 on p.9 and practice the pronunciation of new words.

Less Controlled Language Practice (3 minutes) • practice the target language while having the chance to check their learning themselves in a more entretaining activity
