Description

in this lesson students work on reading . the lesson starts with students discuss the questions about money in pairs. The students read the article in a given time 3 minutes quickly and match the topics with the sections. Then I give students a paper containing phrases that students match with the words they find in text .then compare answers in pairs before I check as a class .then I give them some sentences that have missing parts which students have to use the right words from previous activity to complete these sentences and the last part students discus the some questions in pairs.

Main Aims

  • To provide scan reading practice using a text about the price of happiness in the context of money and happiness

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clarification and practice of vocabulary in the context of money and happiness

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

i put students in pairs and then i write 2 questions on the board then i ask them to discuss the question in given time.

Pre-Reading/Listening (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

The students read the article in 3 minutes quickly and match the headings with the questions

While-Reading/Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

Then I give students a paper containing phrases that students match with the words they find in the text .then i give them time to compare answers in pairs before I check as a class

While-Reading/Listening #2 (14-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

then I give them some sentences that have missing parts which students have to use the right words from previous activity to complete these sentences.

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

the last part students discus the some questions in pairs.
