To provide Ss with review, clarification and practice of the past simple and the past continuous tenses in the context of Language used from previous lesson
To provide process writing practice by adding to a pre set text in orderto create Ss own mini story.
Procedure (33-45 minutes)
Open lesson with a brief discussion on the meaning of what an biography is. On W/B put up a sentence relating to biography in relation to previous lesson. Set task Concept question P/W .Looking at the language used from 1st lesson.Answer the concept question and discuss answers with partner. Ss-T feedback
set aim:Grammar set task Looking at sentence shown on W/B, Nonimated Ss place markers above highlighted word(s) to indicate what tense it is. Ss-Ss correction
I will read an extract from Etchinghams biograpy. Ss will listen and then repeat several times following my pattern. Nominated Ss will come to W/B to mark stress patterns in indvidual words from 3 sentences.. Ss-Ss corrections will be made.
Show students the H/O Set task : Ss look at text and fill in blanks by using past simple or past continuous form of the verbs shown in the brackets. Give Ss task HO to complete Ss get into pairs and correct each others task. Ss-T feedback
On WB show 2 sets of sentences(4 sentences in total) The Ss will combine each set in order to show 2 complete sentences that give the same meaning. FB to class
set task :Ss In pairs complete one of sentences shown on W/B. Ss complete the chosen sentence shown on W/B using their imagination and add two sentences of their own to make a little story .H/O will be given highlighting the sentences. Ss will use H/o to write their story's on. Nominated Ss read out their sentences. Ss-Ss correct mistakes.
