Elementary level

Description

In this one-on-one lesson, I will teach the student how to introduce him self and I will teach him some vocab about days of the week and the colors. This lesson is based on listening exercises.

Main Aims

  • To provide gist and specific information listening practice using a text about Introducing yourself in the context of Students in the classroom

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide practice of Colors, Days of the week in the context of good bye and the colors!

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

The T will show the students a picture of some students in a classroom talking to each other. The T says: "Look at this photo and tell me what do you see" The T discuss with the student about the photo.

While-Listening #1 (5-10 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information listening tasks

The T will give the S the first Ex. The T says: "Look at the conversation 1 and listen." The T will ask the S: "Hello. What's your name, please?" The S will answer the question. The T says: "I'm (the name of the T). Welcome to the class." The T moves to the next exercise (Ex.2) T: "Now look at conversation 2 and listen" [The T practice with the S using his own name.]

Practicing vocabulary (7-14 minutes) • To practice colors vocabulary and introducing the alphabet

The T gives the S HO-1 T: "Now you have to match the words to the colors" FB = S-T The T moves to exercise 4 T: "Listen and say the alphabet." Then the T gives the S exercise b. T: "How do we say these letters?" FB = Listen and check The T gives the S exercise d T: "Listen and write the words" FB = S-T

Practicing Spelling (10-20 minutes) • To practice spelling

The T moves to Ex.6 (a) The T says: "OK, now, look at conversation 3. Then match the teacher's questions to Pablo's answers." FB = Listen and check Now, The T moves to Ex.6 (c) The T says: "You will now listen to 2 conversations. each conversation has a names in it. Write down those names." FB = AK

Vocabulary (2-4 minutes) • To practice days of the week

The T now moves to Ex.8 The T says: "Look at the box, put the days of the week in order." FB = Listen and check T: "What day is it today?" T: "What day is it tomorrow?"

Post-Reading/Listening (5-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

The T gives the S HO-2 (Progress Portfolio) T: "Tick the things you can do in English."
