Description

In this lesson, students will be exposed to different difficult situations, then they will find some way to deal with each situation. Students will be working in pairs and in groups in the begging of the lesson but they will be producing the whole time. We will finish the lesson with a writing task with hot error correction.

Main Aims

  • To provide product writing practice of a paragraph in the context of Different situsations

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide practice of language used conditions in the context of Different situations
  • To provide gist and scan reading practice using a text about difficult situations in the context of animals

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T draws himself on the WB, in a difficult situation. "What should I do?" T elicits the kind of situation (difficult, dangerous, easy) "Tell your friend next to you some ideas to help me. 2 minutes" WCFB

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

T chests: "What is this text about? choose one of the options, 1 minute." T monitors, write the title on WB. T chests: "Now, match the words in the box with the right questions, work alone, 3 minutes." Check in pairs. FB: Ss write answers on WB T divides Ss into groups: "Ask each other the questions, choose the answer you want, 4 minutes." T monitors

Useful Language (6-8 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

T chests HO: "Choose the correct answer, work alone, 2 minutes." FB: WC T chests: "Fill the gaps with the correct form, work alone. 2 minutes." T monitors. Check in pairs. FB: T hands answer key.

Productive Task(s) (18-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

T divides Ss (A, B), Hands cards with different situations. "Who is (A)?.... you will complete the sentences with what do you think (B) would do..." "Who is (B)?.... you will complete the sentences with what do you think (A) would do..." "you have 4 minutes" ICQs: (A) are you going to write about you or (B) answers? B... "Now tell each other your sentences" T monitors. T posts on the wall A3 of some difficult situations. "Now each one of you will write 5 difficult situations with the ways you would deal with them." T gives an example: "If I woke up one day with 3 eyes, I would buy a new glasses. I posted some ideas for you, work alone, 7 minutes." T monitors, hot error correction. T divides Ss into groups. "Share your sentences with your group" T monitors. WCFB

Feedback and Error Correction (5-6 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

T monitors and gives feedback with hot error correction. T provides the groups with some model sentences to check them.
