Description

In this lesson, ss read for specific details using jigsaw reading strategy. First, in 2 teams ,SS write on a spider web on the board " technology in the past " and " technology now" . After that ,T preteaches new vocabulary . SS read again for specific details . SS switch their pairs and discuss their answers together. T gives feedback. At the end, in the last 20 minutes , ss will talk in groups about the difference between technology in the past and now

Main Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a the difference between technology in the past and present

Procedure

Lead-in (5-6 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

ss play a game using folded papers written on it some technology items from the past and present ss aren't supposed to see their papers ss move around holding it to other partners and say " here is a present for you " if it is a good , the partner says " thank you " with high intonation . If not , they say " thank you " in a lower intonation using their facial expressions . each one tries to guess his present . T asks ss to write their words in a bubble on the board

Pre-Reading (5-6 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

T preteaches vocabulary using MPF black and white - colour- live TV T elicits the main idea of the text from the text's picture

While-Reading (10-13 minutes) • To provide students with specific information reading

T gives clear instructions to ss for jigsaw reading ss sit into 2 groups Group A has a text A while group B has text B which are different from each other. First ss read and underline new technology items Second they read for more details ,and answer questions ss swap partners from each group and discuses answers together T provides feedback

Post-Reading (15-20 minutes) • speaking activity to provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

ss sit in 2 groups ss imagine they are in a time machine The first group went to the past while the other group will go to the future ss imagine what type of technology they can find there T report to the other group T does a delayed error correction
