To provide fluency speaking practice in a using both&neither in the context of Coincidences
Procedure (42-59 minutes)
Teacher will tell a story about two people sitting on a train. and how they discovered the connections between them on her way to Ankara. Teacher will elicit the coincidences from students. This will lead in to pair work in the classroom for student to discuss how many people need to be have more than 50% chance to have the same birthday. The answer is 23 %
Teacher will write on the board home, tv, films,sports, food,holidays and ask student to discuss about the topics on the board to find out similarity and difference between them and note this down.SS will do this activity in a small groups.When they finished ask students findings.
Student will have gap filling activity (task1 sbk p38) This activity will be on the board and SS will be using the TL to complete this activity in W/C.
SS will be refer back to task1 options 5,6. and get their attentions on how we use both and neither in those sentences and complete the task2 in W/C.
SS will ask and answer questions with a partner to find out six things they have in common. When they finish they will tell this to W/C by using both and neither. This activity will follow with listening conversation between Clive , the delivery man and Linda. When listening is finish SS will tell what they can remember about the story.
SS will listen to Linda and delivery man again and find out what is discussed and not discussed in their conversation and complete the listening task 1 (1.32 )p 38. When they finish SS will listen again and write down the things they have in common. SS will check their answers in pairs.
In case there is more time left. SS will have gap filling activity using Both and neither
