My Last Holiday

Description

In this lesson, ss will be given opportunity to execute one of productive skills: writing based on the context of holiday. The lesson will start with the introduction of the context "holiday" By the end of the lesson ss will have controlled, semi controlled practices in order to have practices in writing skills.

Main Aims

  • To provide ss to improve their writing skills based on the context "holiday" and to practice written fluency in relation to that topic.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To enable ss to have controlled, semi controlled practices by giveing them the opportunity to execute their writing skill.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and arouse student's interest

T will hang pictures of different holiday destinations and aims to elicit the context "holiday" from students. Ss will make predictions about the context. T will also tell her favorite holiday destination and talk about her last holiday. Then ss will choose their favorite holiday destination in pairs and they will put a tick under the photo of it and why he/she chose that holiday destination.

Exposure (7-10 minutes) • To demonstrate a model of production expected oncoming tasks through reading

T will give a reading text to ss which is about a couple's holiday . T will teach some pre-vocabulary. then, T will give time to ss to read then she will ask ss some CCQs about the text to check ss as: where did Hannah and Ned go to last summer? Where did they stay? What time did they wake up every morning? T will reflect the questions on the board by projector then T will divide classroom into groups of two. Each group will think about the answer and then they answer the questions in pairs. They will come to board to write the answers then they will peer check.

Useful Language (7-8 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for upcoming tasks

T will give ss a fill in the blanks exercise concerning the reading text in order to highlight to useful language (which is Simple Past Tense). First, ss will make predictions about the answers in pairs, then they will answer them on the board and make a peer check. Then T will give the feedback with the incorprotaion of the students.

Productive Task(s) (9-15 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

T will reflect some questions on the board about ss last holiday such as: Where did you go ? What did you do? and elicit the answers from ss. Then T last ask students to write a short passage about their last holiday as they had reading passage such a modal. Ss will do it individually. T will set a time limit for it. When students accomplish the task, they will tell each other about their last holiday in pairs. During this stage T will monitor and take notes in order to give them feedback on the following stage.

Feedback and Error Correction (5-7 minutes) • To give feedback on students' production and use of language

T will give ss feedback about their production and the use of language. T will underline some of mistakes done by ss on the board. T will elicit the correct answer from ss and drill it.
