Description

In this lesson, SS will learn new vocabulary about art and music. SS will practice listening and speaking by using these new words what they learned in the lesson . SS will listen to an audioscript about music gadgets.Then SS will put these gadgets in an choronological order according to invention dates. T will give SS the meaning , pronuncuation , forms( negative, positive and question sentences) of "used to ". Then SS will compare their life in 1990 and 2010 by using "used to" .

Procedure

Lead in - Warm up (3-5 minutes) • To set context of art and music

Firstly, T will celebrate SS' Valentine's Day and play Richard Clayderman's performance..T will wirte Art, Sience, Sport on the board.T will give 2 cards to each group what is written a word realated to art, sience and sport. SS will discuss in the group and put the words in the correct cotegory on the WB . Then T will take the card what is written music and then tell the SS "we are going to talk about music today". T will ask SS what kind music they like.

Speaking (3-5 minutes) • To improve speaking skill

T will give SS 3 questions ( 1- What kind of music do you like? why? 2- Where do you usually listen to music?At home, at work etc.? 3- Do you listen to music while you are working or studying? What kind of music?) and then SS will try to think about their partner and guess their answer.Because they know eachother for a while. SS will check their predictions by asking questions to realted person.

Vocabulary (3-5 minutes) • to elicit new vocabulary words.

T will give cards which are written 8 new words and 8 photos to each group. group will find out new words meanings by matching photos. SS will ask " Do you have XXXXX at home? at least 2 students in their group. When SS finished asking and answering questions T will ask a S in a group " XXXXX please tell me Who has CD/DVD player etc. at home in your group?"

Pre listening (2-4 minutes) • To remind new vocabulary

T will give SS these eight words what they learned in vocabulary activity to the each group again.T will ask SS to put them in a chronological order from the oldest technology to the newest technology according to invention dates.

Listenning for gist (8-10 minutes) • to improve listening skill

SS will listen to audioscriot 1.38. SS will check if their chronoligal order is wrong or right. T will write a cline on the board .T will ask SS which one is the oldest technology and which one is the newest technology. T will put the newest and oldest gadget on the cline. T will give students the answer key to check their rank.

Listening for specific details (4-5 minutes) • To improve listening and reading skill

SS will listen to audioscript 1.38 again. SS will do exercise 3 Global book page 35 and complete the blanks in the text. while SS are listenning to audioscript.

Grammar (5-10 minutes) • To clarify grammar subject "used to"

T will make up a story about her friend. T will teach SS " used to" . Then T will give SS the meaning of " used to " . T will give the form of "used to " in a positive, negative and question sentences. T will give pronunciation . S will do exercise 3 on page 137.

Speaking (4-5 minutes) • To improve speaking skill

T will write two dates on the wall. Exp: 1990 - 2010 . T will give SS a demo Exp: I used to live in 1990. I used to live in Izmir in 2010. SS will ask their partner "what did he/she use to do in 1990? and what did she/ he use to do in 2010? Is there bigchanging about his/her ?" T will ask 2 , 3 students " Is there any friend in group who had big changing in these years?
