To provide clarification of some new business vocabulary.
Procedure (41-50 minutes)
I will provide an explanation of who Jeff Thoms is and the role he fulfils at his company. 2 mins Ask the students if their company has an employee in a similar role. 3 mins
Ask students to look at the points 1 and 2, and discuss any issues they might know of. 2 mins. Will play the recording twice, then ask students if they have any issues with the language. 3-5 mins Play recording a third time if required and discuss points 1 and 2. 3-4 mins
Ask the students to read the text and then illicit whether they understand what is being asked of them during listening task. 1-2 mins Play recording once, ask if there is any understanding issues: 3-5 mins Play recording again then illicit from students the answer. Mins 3-4
The students will listen to a recording 2-3 times and try and complete the missing vocabulary in the text. 5-6 mins Clarify any pronunciation and stress in the answers on whiteboard. 3-5 mins
Students will be given time to decide which country they like to work in, if they had the opportunity. Decide which aspects of its culture they like. 2 mins Then students will discuss their preferences and why with class. 6-8 mins Any language points that have been difficult will be discussed. 2 mins
