Description

in this lesson, the students are going to learn about the fame and fortune in general and also the vocabularies that are relevant. it consists of a lead-in, 3 while-reading activities and a discussion that follows.

Procedure

Lead-in (5-8 minutes) • To set lesson context and give students the right idea about the lesson.

I show them some pictures of famous people and ask them to give me some common traits these people share. then I try to elicit that the topic is about fame. Then I ask them the questions in exercise 1, page 84 of SB.

Pre-Reading (3-5 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible and also teaching them some blocking vocabulary

I ask them to look at the pictures that they have in their course book and give me the reason they think these people became famous. Then I teach some blocking vocabularies by putting the words on the board and getting them to guess the meaning by comparing these words and the pictures in their books.

While-Reading #1 (3-5 minutes) • To ask a few gist question and give them some time to get the general idea of the whole reading.

I use the exercise 3 of SB at this stage. The exercise is designed to give the students the main idea of each paragraph. after that Ss will check their answers with a partner and after that, i give them the answer key to this exercise by asking them why they have given these answers.

While-Reading #2 (10-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging reading for specific information task

I use the exercise 4 as a HO and give it to the Ss it contains several questions that they have to go through the text to find out the answer. After that we go to peer check and I want them to give me the answers as a whole class and I ask them why they have given these answers.

While-Reading #3 (8-10 minutes) • To give the Ss the opportunity to read the text very carefully and analyze every part of it.

I use the SB exercise number 5 . The exercise is designed to make tthe Ss to search for phrase that has a special meaning. I give them the quesyions as a HO and tell them to read the HO carefully. Then I ask them to do it in pairs about 4-5 minutes. Then we discuss it as a whole class activity.

Post-Reading (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

I ask them to discuss 3 question in the groups of 3. 1. what is the best way to become famous? 2. do you like to become famous or not? if not why? 3.who are the most famous people in your country|

If time activity (4-7 minutes) • To give the Ss a chance to review the phrases they have just learns

I give them a workbook activity as an if time activity which they have to use the phrases they have just learned. Then I ask them to check it with a partner.
