Main Aims

  • To provide product writing practice of a brief reviews in the context of online reviews

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide detailed reading practice using a text about A consumer review in the context of Internet reviews

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

-I will ask the students if they like reading newspapers more than watching movies? What kind of newspapers articles or films do they like best?

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

-After the lead in, I will ask the students to read the reviews quickly then decide if these reviews are from a book, a CD, a film or a computer game. Then give these reviews star rating (out of five).

Useful Language (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

I will ask the students to figure out the positive words and phrases and put them in the first column in the table and figure out the negative words and phrases and put them in the second column.After doing so individually, they check their answers in pairs and finally I check their answers.

Productive Task(s) (18-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

The productive task here is to prepare students to write brief reviews and give each one of them one star rating.

Feedback and Error Correction (8-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

After the students write about their reviews, I ask them to check in pairs and finally I check their answers and give them the feedback.
