Procedure (35-53 minutes)
lead-in Put some pictures that include different machines. Then ask the students What machines do they use the most? What are the machines that they can't live without? give them time to think. Ask them to discuss in pairs.
give the students flash cards and ask them to match the words with the right pictures by sticking it to the wall to check the meaning of the vocabulary they might know. pre-teach the following words: tram /træm/ scooter /ˈskuː.t̬ɚ/ ferry /ˈfer.i/
Give the students sets of picture labels including transport vocabulary and ask them in groups or pairs to arrange them from fast to slow. ask them to check the others groups arrangement and ask them about their opinion.
