Description

In this lesson, students will practice listening and speaking to talk about different types of transport. I will lead a speaking activity as an ice breaker for 2 minutes by asking ss what they know about London.They will practice listening for gist and for details.The lesson will finish with a speaking activity as a follow up task.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Tell ss to look at the pictures and match them Ask ss what they know about London. Ss work in pairs to brainstorm everything they can think of.

Exposure (2-3 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading

Ss read about the famous places in London and guess the correct answers

To pre-teach vocabulary and CCQ where appropriate (10-15 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

Pre-teach the following words: /rʌʃ aʊə r / noun /spid lɪm.ɪt/ noun /tɒp gɪə r / noun /spid.bəʊt / noun /pʌb.lɪk træn.spɔt/ noun Elicit the meaning through the pictures. Ask ss about rush hour, is it busy?.can you go quickly in the rush hour? ask about sign of speed limit .What is this ?, can you go faster than it?Is it minimum or maximum? Do you know Top Gear? it;s a T.V program. Ask ss about the picture that has some types of transport, then elicit the word public transport.Do you use public transport? Is it cheap or expensive? Ask ss about the picture that has a speedboat.Elicit the meaning.Is it a small boat? Ss watch the first part of the video ,then they complete the table by writing the type of transport . Ss watch the second part,then they number the presenters in the order they race. Ss watch the video again to fill the gaps with the correct numbers. Allow peer checking then give them the answer on the board.

Productive Task(s) (3-5 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

Give ss some statements to tick the ones that are true for them, Demonstrate how to tick the ones that are true for Egypt ,

Stage 4 (3-5 minutes) • To provide a free practice

Write an outline on the board for example, you can watch football matches on TV in Egypt, it's on channel dmc sports. Ss work in pairs to compare their answers.
