in this lesson students read a text about food festival around the world.they are asked to read for gist and specific and also they will guess the meaning of the words through some activities.

Lead-in (6-7 minutes) • to generate interest in the topic of the passage

T shows 4 pictures on the board and ask Ss talk about these questions in pairs. -are these people from the same countrÄ°es or different countries? -what are these pictures about? (are they about any special occasions...) T divides Ss into 4 groups.T choose 1 picture for each group and gives each group 4 slips of different titles and asks them to chose the correct one for their picture and stick under it. WCFB

reading for gist (2-3 minutes) • To encourage Ss to read for general underestanding

T gives students the text of the reading and asks Ss to read quickly to find the answers of the questions written on the board. -which food does each festival center around? check in pairs, WC

pre teach vocabulary • to pre teach key vocab needed to help Ss complete the matching task

Ss will match vocabs with their meanings provided on a HO. Pair check and WC

reading for detail (8-10 minutes) • to practice reading for deailed comprehention

teacher asks Ss to match in pairs which festival do they think these sentences refer to .provided on a HO. pair chek ,WC

(8-10 minutes) • guessing the meaning of the words and phrases from the context

Ss should guess and choose the correct definition for each word and phrases from the context provided on a HO. pair check ,WC

POST READING (9-10 minutes) • To develope oral fluency

Ss will discuss the following questions in groups. e.g. which of these festivals would you like to go to? which would you avoid? why?
