Vocabulary (housework make and do)
Pre-Intermediate level


In this lesson, T will teach the new vocabulary in the context of housework make and do. T will start with a warmer activity which will be in a form of matching activity. It will get their interest. After that clarification, practice and review will be provided. In the end of the lesson, T will observe with freer practice if they were provided with the knowledge aimed.

Main Aims

  • To provide Ss with clarification, review and practice of vocabulary make or do in the context of housework.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide Ss with practice of reading, listening and speaking in the context of the vocabulary.


Warmer/Lead-in (4-6 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T will stick to everyone's back a piece of paper which will contain a part of a phrase Word. T will open a song and let the WC walk around class and find their appropriate match. After they find their match they will first write their phrase on the board and then sit next to each other and the last one standing pair will answer truth or dare questions. 1-do a favour 2-make an offer 3-make a wish 4-do justice 5-make a suggestion 6-do damage, harm 7-do badly, well 8-do your duty 9-make a difference / an exception 10-make a comment 11-do drugs (consume/use) 12-make an attempt

Exposure (3-5 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

T will ask them to read the reading part that they previously did. This time they going to do scan reading and search for specific words in the context of housework make and do. They will have two minutes after that they will check their answers in pairs.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

T will give them the guided discovery sheet and let the Ss in pairs answer them. After they finish, T will write on the board by eliciting from the Ss the answers.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

T will give them the HO page 154 let them do this exercises in pairs after they finish will listen to the audio as an answer key so they can get FB. T will drill the phrases. T will assign exercise 2 and let them to it in pairs. The audio will be played as an answer key.

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

T will devide the WC into groups of four and they will be doing the HO of Vocabulary 4a. After they finish let the groups compare their answers.

Free Practice (6-8 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

T will ask the Ss to write about their own responsibilities at home which housework they do themselves or who is doing them. They will be given five minutes and after that, they will check in pairs.
