Description

In this lesson students will listen to and tell a short story.

Materials

Abc visuals/ pictures/ realia

Main Aims

  • Students will develop their fluency in speaking and listening.

Subsidiary Aims

  • Students will revise and extend their vocabulary.
  • Students will be better at working cooperatively.

Procedure

Lead in (3-5 minutes) • To set the context and activate schemata

T invites the students to the storytelling corner. Ss will sit on the floor that is covered with some leaves. T asks where they are now and encourages them to think until they come up with forest/jungle T asks ss to think of three animals that live in the jungle and three kinds of fruit they eat.

Language input (15-20 minutes) • To provide language through listening practice for the production stage

T introduces the caterpillar. T tells the story using visuals and involving the students. Ss repeat or tell the story with the teacher. T tells the story for the second time to get higher involvement from the students. T deals some visuals and encourages them to join the story.

Feedback& extension (15-17 minutes) • to provide an opportunity to practice

1*. T pairs up the students T gives the instruction and hand out visuals to the pairs. Ss stick their pictures on the correct section and tell the story 2*. They all come together and form the caterpillar. * T uses on of these activities depending on the time
