Description

The lesson starts with setting the concept of shopping online and in a store with pictures and discussion. Teacher elicits the meaning of vocabulary with a matching activity, demonstrates the pronunciation , drills and boards them with form . Students practice with controlled and semi controlled activities.

Main Aims

Procedure

Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

*T greets the students . *T projects the pictures of shop windows and some online shopping websites on the board, sets "shopping online and shopping in a store" concepts through the pictures, shows the realia of a clothing item and asks ss to discuss the best way to shop , either online or in a store and why with their partners in 2 minutes. *WC feedback .

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

*T shows HO s to students and asks them to underline any words related to shopping on it. * T tells the students to check with their partners. *WC feedback.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

*T divides the class into two groups , gives one group the pictures and the other group shopping vocabulary words and tells them to mingle and find the person who matches with their word or picture and stick them together on the board. *CCQ questions are asked for two words to check ; -Where do you go to pay for the things you buy at a supermarket? -If I'am not happy with something I've bought , what do ı do? -In auctions, is there just one customer or more ? *T tries to elicit the verb ' to fit' by showing her dress and asking students do you think this dress is too small for me, or too big , so it .............. me . T tries to elicit suit asking students if the dress looks good on her or not, so it ..................... me . *T demonstrates the pronunciations of the vocabulary and asks the students to repeat. *T focuses on the vocab with difficult pronunciation "checkout, receipt, auction, trolley, suit, fit" and drills them. *T writes these words on board ,show stress on them , asks ss which parts of speech they are.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

*T tells ss to line up according to their shoe size and divides the line into two groups. *T sticks the texts on both sides of the WB and puts the scraps of papers with answers on the table. *T tells the students that the first student will take one answer and stick it to the right place. Then the next one goes. ICQ questions, Will you take a new answer from table before your friend comes back to line. *The team who matches quickest wins the game. *T gives answer keys to students as feedback.

If time activity (5-8 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

*T tells ss to line up according to their shoe size and divides the line into two groups. *T hangs the list of vocabulary on each side of the WB and puts the scraps of paper with definitions on the table colored differently for each group . *The first student of each group takes one definition , runs to the board matches it with the word and second one runs for next definition. ICQ questions, Will you take a new definition from table before your friend comes back to line. *The team who matches quickest wins the game. *T gives answer keys to students as feedback.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

*T gives the students a HO and introduces them with the situation; "You bought a pair of trousers yesterday. However, when you came home you found out that the trousers is not your size. So go back to that shop to take them back , find a shop assistant and tell him/her your situation ." *T tells the students to work with their partners , one of them will be customer and the other one will be shop assistant. *After two minutes they will change roles *WC feedback
