Description

In this lesson YLs will be introduced to new transport lexis. Ss will read a text about an amazing bus, will change it and will write a text about their amazing car, bus, train or plane.

Materials

Abc Music, street sounds
Abc Transport pictures
Abc cut outs
Abc An amazing car, picture

Abc A picture with the text and a big red bus

Main Aims

  • To improve Ss' writing skills in the context of an amazing bus,car,train or plane

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clarification and practice of various transport, introduce to new lexis, imrove Ss' reading skills.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T tells Ss to close their eyes and listen, plays the audio, asks what they can hear. Ss share their thoughts. T shows transport pictures one by one, Ss name it.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide/practice new lexis

Ss stick the cut outs on the WB. Two teams, board rush game. PW, T gives HO1, Ss check the answers in groups then find the answers under their chairs (T sticks the AK under the chairs before the lesson)

Useful Language (6-8 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

T sticks the picture on the WB. Tells Ss that's and amazing car. asks Ss some questions about it (e.g. how many wheels has it got, what's the colour of the car, how many children could sit inside, is it fast, etc.). GW, Ss think what's inside the car, what they could do inside the car, with the car. T asks Ss what else could be amazing instead of a car.

Productive Task(s) (15-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

T opens a picture by using a projector. Asks Students what it is, what's the text about. T gives the half-folded HO, Ss write their names on it, Ss read it individually, then one more time together with the T. T- " hmm, let's change something, I don't like the colours, what other colours could it be?"WC reads one more time with the T, re-write the text. T- now let's write about your amazing car or bus or train or plane!" T- "are we writing in groups/pairs? No, we are doing it alone!" Ss unfold the HO, complete the sentences individually. Ss sit in a circle. T- " now, give your papers to the student on your left" T- "now, write the first sentence again, but change the last word!" After that Ss give their papers to the student on his/her left, change the 2nd- 7th sentences.

Feedback and Error Correction (6-8 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

T collects all the papers One of the Ss comes and reads one of the papers, the WC try to guess which paper is whose.
