In this lesson Past Simple wil be covered.First T will tell an anecdote about her Dracula castle visit.Then, clarification of Simple Past Tense will be covered.This wil be followed by a controlled and semi-controlled activities.Finally, the lesson will be finished with a free activity and eror correction.

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Greet Ss and tell an anecdote, relate it through asing the weather to Ss.

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Am I talking about now or (past) indicate it by using finger showing back. Elicit the answer and write Past on the board.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

Prepare 10 or more situations related to some tenses, ask Ss to check the sentences on the board,give them 1 min. Then ask them to mark the ones that we can use with past tense. ICQs: Are we marking the sentences related to Past Simple?Yes. Reflect the verbs on the board.Ask Ss What is the past simple of these verbs? Are they regular or irregular? Check your answers in Joe's text. Provide the texts and give them to Ss,. ICQs: Are you finding the past simple of these verbs? Yes. Are you underlining the past simple of these verbs? Yes. Ask them to find and underline the positive past simple words in Laura's text individually, and write the infinitives in pairs. Ask Ss to underline the negative past simple verbs in the two texts. Work alone. ICQs: Are underlining the negative past simple verbs in only Laura's text? No. Are underlining the negative past simple verbs in only Joe's tex? No. Show two fingers and make a puzzled gesture to encourge Ss to say both. Draw a question mark on the board, _______ +Subject + V ?______+ O? Pronunciation and drilling. Reflect the verbs ( 4a) on the board, and provide pronunciation and drilling.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Tell Ss to put the verbs in brackets in the past simple.Work individually. Check your aswers in pairs. Write the numbers on the board , tell Ss to come to the board and write the answers and check whole class.

Semi-Controlled Practice (5-7 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

Change the pairs. Tell Ss to complete the questions in the past simple, work in pairs.Nominate Ss and ask their answers.Elicit and write the answers on the board. Check them whole class.

Free Practice (8-12 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Provide a prompt and ask Ss to check it on the board. Think about your answers to the questions. ICQ: Are we thinking about the answers to the questions?Yes. Set colours. Work in pairs. Ask your partner about his/her holiday. Tell white colour is asking the questions first.Then swap roles, blue is asking the questions. ICQs: Are we working in pairs? Yes. Who is asking the questions first?Whites. Reflect the prompt on the board. Error correction.
