Main Aims

  • To provide practice and review of how much is / are.......? in the context of how much is the shirt?

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T asks them if they like shopping. What do they like to buy? eliciting answers.T uses a video about clothes to show them some clothes.T discusses it with Ss. What is the boy doing? could you name some clothes? How much?

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

T uses power point to show pictures of clothes with names. Ss read the words they see in the slides in groups. T asks them about the price using '' How much is/are....? T gives Ss a handout p.(40) Ex (B) . T asks them to answer the questions in pair. Ss gives (WCFB).

Highlighting (2-6 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

T uses power point to show Ss Pictures of clothes asking them to name them (G-W) T writes (at home - at party - at work).eliciting where they wear these clothes

Clarification (7-8 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

T writes ''How much is .......? How much are ........?'' on the board eliciting that one is for singular and the other is for plural. T elicits some examples from them. T asks Ss, in pairs, to point to any pictures on 112. One asks and the other answers. They exchange roles. T asks Ss to make sure they understand.(FB)

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

T gives Ss a handout p. 40 ex (A). Ss listen to the text and fill in the gaps, individually. Ss check their answers with his partners. T gets (FB) by asking them for some answers.

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

T divides Ss into two groups and writes on the board words of clothes in two columns T uses flash cards on a table and asks the two groups to put the picture next to the name on the board. Tasks the two groups to check for each other.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

T asks Ss (WHW) to stand up and in pair they tell each other what they like to wear. Ss change pairs.
