In this lesson we are going to study vocabulary related to the places in the town/the country so students can use it in their daily life also we are going to be focused on the pronunciation.


Abc Listening task

Main Aims

  • Learning new vocabulary through the context and learning sentence stress and pronunciation of new words through listening and drilling

Subsidiary Aims

  • Speaking, ability to use new words in their daily life


Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Using visuals I will introduce vocabulary: difference between town and city, difference between a country and the country

Introducing vocabulary (8-15 minutes) • To provide a clear understanding of a new vocabulary

I will show the pictures of the park and river (I think they will immediately recognize them) and then will ask them in pairs match the words and the pictures from F2F Student\s book, p 131, 5A After I will ask them to turn their paper and find the answers. Then I think they can have a question with understanding "a bed and breakfast" or "B&B" so I will show them a picture of a house and say that they can sleep there and have breakfast The focus also must be done on the pronunciation of some words especially those which exist in Turkish but they pronounce it differently (Market, cafe, bus), also difficult words like station, museum, mountains Need to drill some of them

Useful Language, Pre Listening task (5-7 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming tasks

At this stage i will ask students to refer back to the words we have already done and will ask them to chose 4 thing which are the most important for their holiday and 4 things for the place they live then i will ask them to share their ideas with their partners

Pre Listening tasks (5-7 minutes) • To prepare students for their listening task

I will use visuals to Introduce places and will show phonetic scripts to clarify the pronunciation I will ask students to tell me their opinion if this is a big city or a small town or a village also will ask them to name me things they can see on the pictures

Listening (sentence stress) (5-10 minutes) • To teach students to use stress in the sentence correctly

I will write on the WB I don't like Eyeries and will ask them to say me the stressed word. Will ask them why they stress it (because it is important) We will listen to sentences from three conversations about the places in the photos and will notice stressed words. Then we will make a board work i will ask students to come to board and to highlight the stressed word and then if they don't agree we will play back the sentence again and try to decide.
