Procedure

Lead-in (4-6 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students so they have a general idea of a lesson.

I show them pictures of fisherman and a businessman that is on holiday so they know what the lesson is about I try to elicit what a fisherman is by showing the fishing gestures and I do my best to show a businessman.

Pre-Reading (10-12 minutes) • Brainstorming and giving Ss some general idea about the whole lesson;pre-teaching some vocabs.

I brain storm about what are they talking about (the fisherman and the businessman) -I ask them to form groups and discuss what are they telling each other. I pre-teach words that are needed for understanding the reading. -I use a matching activity for them to learn some key words. -They will do that as a PW

While-Listening #1 (8-12 minutes) • To ask a few gist question and give them some time to get the general idea of the whole listening.

I ask 8 true and false questions (exercise 3 of the SB) I try to group them depending on the present students of my class. I give each group 2 or 3 Qs. I ask them to do it in groups for 2 minutes. After 2 minutes I ask each group the questions and want them to give me the T or F answer(I also ask why they have given this answer).

While-Listening #2 (10-12 minutes) • To complete the whole reading and put words in their correct places.

I give them the whole reading text ask them to read it individually so they can see the gaps and understand what they should look for , after this I play the tape again and want them to check their answers The reading time is 4 minutes . And they have 3 minutes to check their answers. ICQs; Do you talk to your friends?NO How much time for reading?4 minutes How much time for checking with a partner?3 minutes

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To give them some time to talk about bussinessman and fisher man and tell each other what happened in the reading.

I put some colored papers (yellow and red for example) on the desk I ask them to come and each take one. Yellows will discuss fisherman and Reds will discuss the businessman and then I ask them to find a partner and they will tell each other about the fisherman and businessman.

Sub-aim activity (4-7 minutes) • To talk about talented people in own countries.

I stick some pictures of famous and successful Turkish people and worldwide successful people and ask them if they are successful or not?(They are) I also ask them to talk in groups of 3 about successful people in their country.
