Main Aims

To provide gist and detailed listening practice using a text about at the hotel in the context of check in

Subsidiary Aims

To provide clarification of Verb be - we, you,they - negatives all persons in the context of Nationalities

Procedure (31-41 minutes)

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Focus on 3 pictures and Elicit " at a hotel " T asks Where are they? Who do you see in the pictures/ can you describe people/things? T makes SS talk about the topic

Pre-Reading/Listening (5-5 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

T asks SS to read the text. Elicit unknown information. Model the intonation ex 2 on p 8

Pre-teach vocabulary (5-6 minutes) • To provide students with extra langugage which will help then in future tasks

MPF - on holiday, hurry up, ready, too, breakfast, have a nice day

While-Reading/Listening #1 (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

SS listen to gist in audio 1.26 and tick the correct picture. T checks for mistakes,repeat the audio and elicit the correct ones. Correction

While-Reading/Listening #2 (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed listening tasks

SS pre-read list of Q's to the text (2b) SS listen to audio 1.26 while answering the Q's Error correct / replay the audio and elicit the correct answers SS read a tapescript check and correct

Post-Reading/Listening (2-5 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

SS listen to a.1.27 and repeat on pause. SS model the intonation SS memorize the dialogue and try to retell
