Description

In this lesson, students learn new vocabularies through a competition. The lesson starts with a small discussion about holidays. Then, they will have a competition. They will be two teams answering some questions. Finally, they will have conversations, in pairs, about the most interesting holidays in their lives.

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation and a discussion in the context of holidays

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (1-2 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will show them a picture of people on a holiday and ask them what can they see in the picture.

Exposure (2-3 minutes) • To highlight useful words and phrases

we will have a discussion about holidays and the most important things for the ideal holidays.

Task (8-10 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

They will have a competition. They will be two teams, and they will answer some questions about the holiday vocabularies. There will be three points for the speed and one point for each true answer.

Planning (1-2 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to plan students' reports

Every team will choose a spokesman who will tell us their answers.

Report (1-2 minutes) • To allow students to report on how they did the task and how it went

The spokesmen will tell us the answers of their teams.

Language Analysis (5-6 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the task language

I will clarify the meaning, form, and pronunciation of the holiday words.

Language Practice (3-5 minutes) • To provide students with practice of the task language

They will have conversations in pairs about their most interesting holidays.
