Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Link to the previous lesson, elicit, ask ss about the listening .............

Text based presentation (8-10 minutes) • To extract TL from the context

Give instructions for the task, Model the activity by giving an example, - pick someone from the room, ask them the same questions in the activity , eventually, let the ss guess what is his/ her job. Chest the HO of ex3a, tell the ss to fill in the gabs to form questions. Ss complete the task individually then compare their answers in pairs. Project a screen shot of the activity on the board, then have the ss come and write the answers, give WC FB. Ask Ss, are Qs 1 +2 the same as Qs 3,+4? what is the difference? Circle the different pronouns on the board. Focus on the meaning to check why TL is used. Elicit which tense is used in the Qs and why. Ask ss, is it just now? is it just yesterday? is it just today? is it everyday? Draw the time line to help establishing the time for the present simple. Elicit the tense used in questions and when it is used. ICQ, CCQ

Highlighting (4-6 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Ask Ss, are Qs 1 +2 the same as Qs 3,+4? what is the difference? Circle the different pronouns on the board. Focus on the difference between Qs with 'you' vs Qs with 'he, she' What about the short answers? Are they the same? how different ? Focus on the meaning to check why TL is used. Elicit which tense is used in the Qs and why. Ask ss, is it just now? is it just yesterday? is it just today? is it everyday? Draw the time line to help establishing & demonstrating the time for the present simple. Elicit the tense used in questions and when it is used. Remember the CCQs.

Clarification (6-8 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

Model & drill the questions in groups & individually. Highlight the weak form of (do )in the Q & the strong in the answer. Point out to the ascending intonation in the Qs, model and drill. ICQ/ CCQ

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To give ss written practice with TL

Give instructions, Tell ss I'm going to give you these hands outs . No1 is and example. I will do No2. You do the rest. Work alone. ICQ. Monitor & help ss, ask ss to come to the board and answer any Q they like. Give an answer key.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students mmore meaningful practice with the target language

Give instructions & Model Tell ss I'm going to give you these flash cards , you have to fold it like this so no one will see. form the groups of 4. Model, ask someone in the room some yes/ no questions. Tell the ss to. take some time as a group & form questions & use the ones in 3 if they want, then go to the other groups and ask them & guess their jobs. The team who guesses the most amount of jobs is the winner. ICQ -As a team, Are we going to make sentences or questions? - who will you ask?
