Main Aims

  • To develop Ls oral fluency in the context of plan your dream holiday.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide specific information listening practice using a text about conversation with the travel agent.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-6 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will illustrate that I will play a song and that I will ask them some questions after listening to it. I will ask them some ICQs: -What are you going to do? -Will I ask you the questions before or after listening? After listening, I will ask them many CCQs: Is he talking about the food? Is he talking about the sports? After answering that he is talking about the holiday, I will ask if anyone has another answer. Then, I will ask : On the holiday: do you work? you go to some another country? Do you like holidays? you go to holidays haphazardly or after planning? you mean that there are some measures before going to a holiday? Like what? Going to travel agency to decide where you will spend your holiday!

Exposure (5-6 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

I will say -after the lead-in stage- So, Andy and Fiona king are going to travel agency. Well, why Andy and Fiona king are going to travel agency? We have here many questions. Now, listen to the tape and answer the questions. I will make sure that they understood the instructions by asking them: what are you going to do? I'll ask them if they need to listen to the recording again then I will ask them to work in a group to check their answers. Finally, I will get the feed back from them.

Useful Language (8-9 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

I will ask the students to look at the information about holidays 1-8 and choose THREE holidays which they think are suitable for the kings. I will make sure that they understood the instructions by asking them: what are you going to do? After checking in a group and getting some feedback from them, I will ask them: what about yourselves? Where would you like to go for your next holiday? would you rather Turkey or Dubai? why ? and I will write their answers on the board. Then, I will illustrate that we use (Where would you like to .... ? would you rather ..... or ..... ?) to ask about preference and (I,d like to go to ......, we'd like somewhere ....., I'd rather go to ... because .... ) to show preference. We use (we don't want to go to ... because ..., It's too ... It's not .... enough) for answering the question why? Lately, I will ask them: If you plan for a holiday, I can ask you ( How long are you planning to stay? and why you choose this holiday) So, Imagin that and answer these to Questions. I will illustrate that we use ( we're going to ... for ... days/weeks\ we chose this holiday because ...) for telling people about our holidays. Then, I will ask them to look at the work sheet to make sure that they understood.

Productive Task(s) (8-9 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

I will ask one of them to act as a travel agent and ask his partners several questions to find out what kind of holiday they would like. I will illustrate that he can use the questions in preparation exercise1 and add some extra ones if you want to and that he can use the holidays here or he can invent some of his own. After that, I will tell them that they all are going to the sharing answer so decide and answer the following questions. finally, I will ask them to tell each other about the holidays they have planned and decide who has chosen the most interesting holiday.
