Description

In this lesson, The student will learn (through Skype) about nationalities, verb to be positive and Wh-questions through the context of meeting people. The S will develop the receptive skills in this lesson through listening. At the end of this lesson, the S will be able to talk about nationalities, verb to be positive and wh-questins.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

The T will show some photos to the S and try to elicit the context from the S. The T says: "Look at these photos. Can you guess what are we going to talk about today?"

Exposure (2-4 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

The T will give the S the first Ex.1 (a) T: "Read and listen to conversation 1." After finishing Ex.1 (a) The T practice with the S using the student's name. The T gives the S Ex.2 (a) T: "Read and listen to conversation 2." The T practice with the S.

Learning vocabulary (5-8 minutes) • To learn nationalities and countries.

The T give the S Ex.3 The T says: "Tick the countries that you know." After the S finishes from Ex.3 the T moves to Ex.4 The T says: "OK now complete the next exercise." Feedback: Listen and check your answers.

Vocabulary and pronunciation (5-10 minutes) • To practice the vocabulary pronunciation

1- The T gives the S exercise 5 T: "Listen and notice the words stress in the countries and nationalities." [Focus on the words stress] 2- The T makes the S practice the pronunciation and stress. T: "Listen again and practice.

Controlled practice for Vocab. (3-6 minutes) • To practice nationalities and countries vocab.

The T gives the S Ex.6 T: "OK. Now you will listen to conversation 3, 4 and 5. Listen carefully and write the countries." Feedback: T asks the S about the answers.

Highlighting the target language (10-20 minutes) • To highlight the target language

1- The T gives the S exercise 7 T: "Fill in the gaps with 'm. 're, 's" FB = LnC [Make sure that the S understands the grammar point.] 2- The T gives the S exercise 8 T: "Fill in the gaps with are or 's" FB = LnC [Make sure that the S understands the grammar point.]

Pronunciation practice (5-10 minutes) • To practice the grammar point pronunciation

1- The T gives the S exercise 9 T: "OK now you will listen and practice the sentences in the previous exercise." FB = S-T 2- The T gives the S Ex.10 T: "Now, listen and practice the questions in the previous exercise." FB = S-T

Controlled practice (2-4 minutes) • Te practice the S about what he learned

The T shows exercise 11 to the S and ask him to complete it. FB = S-T

Controlled Practice (3-6 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

1- The T moves to Ex.12 The T asks the S to complete the exercise in 2 minute. FB = S-T 2- The T moves to Ex.13 The Tasks the S to complete the exercise. FB = S-T

The T asks the S to tell him about his best friend. The T says: "Tell me about your best friend, What do you do with him? Does he have a car?"
