Description

In this lesson students will learn about imperatives and suggestions with let's. The students will first have an idea about the meaning of imperatives and suggestions. The students will listen and read a number of conversations about a family holiday to focus on the form and the pronunciation. This is followed by a controlled practice using written exercises.Finally there is a freer practice using speaking activities

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

students will see four pictures of carter family on the board

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

T gives Ss 4 conversations of the family who are on a holiday to set the context of the imperatives and suggetions lessson

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

T gives Ss a short written practice exercice of a chart to fill in.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

T talks to Ss about the right meaning as well as the function of using imperative. T gives students a dialogue to read in pairs in order to elicit the basic form of imperatives and suggetions. Ss listen to an audio of a connected speech about pronunciation. T clarifies the speech and determine to Ss the pronunciation patterns.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

T gives to students two written gap fill in exercies to complete sentences. 1st exercise deals with imperatives. 2nd exercise deals with suggestions using let's. every student has to work individually. Ss check in pairs

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

T gives Ss an example conversation of two people ( A _ B) . Ss read in pairs the conversation. T explains the conversation to Ss. T drills the conversation with Ss. T divides Ss into two groups As and Bs. Ss stand As and Bs face to face and have same conversation.
