Pre-intermediate level

Description

In this lesson, the students will learn about the different techniques which are commonly used to remember names,starting by a warm up activity to drag their attention, followed by an exercise and afterword a reading a that involves an exercise to introduce them to the techniques. Afterwards we move to some lexis exercises to help the student know when to use nouns/noun phrases/adjectives.

Abc warm up using familiar objects

Main Aims

  • To review and practice lexis related to describing people

Subsidiary Aims

  • to give sts practice in reading for detail

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (8-10 minutes) • Give Ss a hint about the context and get them interested in the lesson

T will use a book with common on that Ss will recognize, then hide after a while to test their memory. T will ask the Ss who were the best how did they do it, and ask how many thought in English. T will drag Ss attention to the title of the section, and ask them how good are they at recognizing people they had just met and if they can remember their names. T will give an exercise to Ss and after they finish, he will ask the ones who were the best about the technique they used.

Reading (5-8 minutes) • Introduce the Ss to the name remembering techniques.

T will go through the headlines before allowing the student to read the text. Ss will read and match the different paragraphs to the headlines. T will check the answers and ask the Ss if they think this advice will work help them.

Post-Reading (4-7 minutes) • exchange ideas

T will pair the Ss to get feedback. T will make a list of ways Ss can remember English words through. T will encourage Ss to try the some of the ways and report later on.

Lexis (15-20 minutes) • To teach Ss how to describe people

T will ask the Ss to do the first Lexis exercise ( T is going to do the first one as an example. T will ask student to complete the following ( the tips in the teacher's book)
