Description

In this lesson ss will learn vocabulary related to a text and then read the reading passage which is a true story taking place in UK. We will start by giving them a picture and predicting what has happened to the man. Then I will give each group sentences with the words which take place in the story they will read them and try tomatch them with the definition. Then I will choose a sentence for each group and tell them to come to the board and mime it sothe others can guess what he/she is miming. I will hightlight the word in the sentence and ask them if the word is a noun/adjective/verb. After we analyse the words, I will tell them to write a story about the picture using the words as a group and nominate each ss from each group to read thier groups story. Finally they will read the story and talk about how different their story was in their group.

Main Aims

To provide review and practice in the context of Dog biting his owner's car in a True story in a newspaper

Subsidiary Aims

To provide detailed reading practice using a text about A dog biting his owner's car
To provide product writing practice of a story

Procedure (39-54 minutes)

Warmer/Lead-in (4-7 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Put the seats facing each other and tell them to sit opposite anyone they want. Tell them there will be a listener group and a speking group. Tell SS that they have to tell their friends what they did yesterday.(revision of previous lesson simple past). When I say move they have to move one chair only the speakers and start telling what they did from the beginning again.

Exposure (14-20 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

I will give the students as a group the vocabulary which take place in the story. Tell them to try to understand the vocabulary match them with the definition. They will check them with members in different group. Then check together as a class.Ask CCQS too.Then I will tell them that a member from each group will come up and act their vocabulary which I nominated and act it out for SS to find which word he/she is trying to explain.Put the picture of a man tell them to speak using the TL of the picture. Then give them the story and ask them what is unusual in the story.

Clarification (5-7 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

Clarification will be done as soon as each group finishes their acting out.Write words on the board and elicit if they are nouns/ verbs/adjective and the pronunciation of the words. chunk noun [C] /tʃʌŋk/ decent adjective /ˈdiː.sənt/ munch verb /mʌntʃ/ guilty adjective (FEELING) /ˈɡɪl.ti/ get along with – phrasal verb overhear verb /ˌəʊ.vəˈhɪər/

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Then SS do a T/F statement by themselves and check it with their partner then with. I will give the answer key and they will check the answers. Fb will be given if needed.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Tell them to make up a funny story using the TL and tell them to nominate 1 or 2 ss to read their stories. After they finish writing their stories, they will hang them on the Wall and all the class will go around and read each group's story to find the funniest one.
