Listening (Introduce yourself)
Elementary level

Description

In this lesson, I will teach the student (through Skype) how to introduce him self and I will teach him some vocab about days of the week and the colors. This lesson is based on listening exercises.

Main Aims

  • To provide gist and specific information listening practice using a text about Introducing yourself in the context of Students in the classroom

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide practice of Colors, Days of the week in the context of good bye and the colors!

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

The T will show the students a picture of some students in a classroom talking to each other. The T says: "Look at this photo and tell me what do you see" The T discuss with the student about the photo.

While-Listening #1 (5-10 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information listening tasks

The T will give the S the first Ex. The T says: "Look at the conversation 1 and listen." The T will ask the S: "Hello. What's your name, please?" The S will answer the question. The T says: "I'm (the name of the T). Welcome to the class."

While-Listening #2 (10-20 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

The T moves to Ex.6 (a) The T says: "OK, now, look at conversation 3. Then match the teacher's questions to Pablo's answers." After the S finishes matching, the T says: "Good, now, listen and check your answers." Now, The T moves to Ex.6 (c) The T says: "You will now listen to 2 conversations. each conversation has a names in it. Write down those names." After the S finishes the Ex.6 (c) The T shows AK to the student so he can check his answers.

Vocabulary (4-6 minutes) • Teaching the S colors.

The T will move to Ex.3 and says: "Now, you have to match these colors with the words." After the S finishes the Ex.3 the T will take FB from the S.

Vocabulary and Listening (10-15 minutes) • Teaching the S colors and the alphabet.

The T will move to Ex.4 (a) and say: "Now you will hear the alphabet, listen carefully and say the alphabet." After the S finishes the Ex.4 (a) the T moves to Ex.4 (b) The T says: "Now look at these colors and say the letters that are in the same color."

Vocabulary and Listening #2 (3-7 minutes) • Learning days of the week

The T now moves to Ex.8 The T says: "Look at the box, put the days of the week in order." After the S finishes the Ex.8 The T says: "Now listen and check your answers." The T asks the S: "What day is today? What day is it tomorrow?"
