Main Aims

Procedure

Lead-In (5-6 minutes) • To activate students' existing knowledge of the topic

-T puts the pictures on the board. -T talks about the problems they have in their daily life (losing sunglasses, spilling coffee...) -Students talk in pairs about the problems they have in their lives.

Pre-teach Vocabulary (4-5 minutes) • To pre-teach blocking lexis to ensure comprehension of the prepping activities

-T hands out the vocabulary paper. -Ss check in pairs. Whole-class Feedback

Preparing to speak (8-11 minutes) • To generate ideas to speak about

-T groups the students A,B,C... -T gives the cutouts. -Ss discuss in their groups about the problem in the drawings. -T gives the cutouts of the missing lines. -Ss put them in the correct dialogue. -Each group comes to the board and sticks one line on the dialogue. -T drills the dialogues.

Useful Language (15-20 minutes) • To provide language students may find useful during speaking

-T chests the handout. FOLDED -T says: Guess what the problem is and match them with the pictures. ICQs -How many pictures?-6 How much time?-2 mins What are you doing?- Match -Students unfold the paper and match the pictures with the lines. -Teacher drills the sentences in different moods (sad, angry, happy) If there is time: Ss come to the board and choose a sentence and a mood. S utters the sentence ans others try to find the mood. -T chests the handout. -T says: Now we listen to the dialogues and fill in the gaps. -Ss pair-up and practice the dialogues (one dialogue for each team) -Ss come on the board and try to act the dialogues in the given mood.

Speaking Task (10-15 minutes) • To provide less controlled oral practice related to everyday problems.

-T divides the class in to pairs (Problem, Help) -T demos the activity. -T hands out the papers. -Ss prepare their dialogues (written or oral) -Ss act their dialogues to their peers or to whole class depending on time.

Feedback/Error Correction (5-6 minutes) • To provide error correction and content Feedback

-T writes the wrong sentences they heard and took notes of on the board. -T asks the students to correct the sentences and discuss the appropriateness of the content.
