Description

In this lessons students will learn about the uses of the internet through reading and listening.At the beginning I'll show them a picture of a computer to elicit the word internet and elicit many words about the uses of the internet.Then I'll ask them to read the text for gist , scan and specific information.Finally I'll ask them to listen and complete the information.

Procedure

lead in (8-10 minutes) • To activate students' existing knowledge of the topic.

- T displays apicture of computer to elicit the word internet. - T divides the Ss to 3 teams naming them A, B, C and change seating arrangement into 3 circles. - T elicit many words about the using of the internet from the students - T give the students A3 papera and markers and ask them to write as many words as they can about the uses of the internet. - T ask each group to stick their paper on the board under their groups names. ICQs: 1. How many words? many 2. Alone or in group? In group 3. How many minutes? 3

Pre-teach vocabulary (8-10 minutes) • To pre-teach key lexis needed to help students understand the text.To pre-teach lexis needed to help students complete the next task.

- T gives each student a hand out to match the verbs to the nouns alone then in pairs. - - T gives each group the same collocations printed in small papers and pictures, - T asks them to put them on the picture and stick on the board . - T asks Ss to check other groups to say if there is any difference. - T gives the answer key to the Ss. - T drills for pronunciation ICQs How many words? eight How much time? 2 Are you going to answer alone or in group? in group

Reading for gist (3-5 minutes) • To encourage students toread for gist to get an overview of the text.

- T asks students to match the two headings to the two paragraphs. - T asks students to read quickly to match. - T Gives instructions: 1. You have 1 minute 2. Read the text quickly (1 minute). 3. Choose the best heading for each paragraph. 4 Don't read every word ICQs How many headings? two Are you going to read every word? No Are you going to read slowly or quickly? quickly.

Reading for specific information (8-10 minutes) • To practise reading for specific information (scanning)to familiarize learners with the text.

- T chests the HO and gives instructions: 1. Read the text alone silently. 2. There are 4Qs 3. Find answers in the text. ICQs 1. Do you talk to your partner? No 2. How much time? 4 minutes 3. How many Qs? 4 - Ss check in pairs. - T asks some Ss to give the answer. - Ask how they found the answer.

Reading for detail (4-5 minutes) • To practise reading for specific information (scanning)to familiarize learners with the text.
