  • To provide gist and detailed listening practice using a text about "looking younger" in the context of TV program

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

1- Greet your students and ask them about their day and about the weather. 2- Ask them if summer sun is good or bad for our skin and appearance, Does it make us look older. 3- Ask them if we we can do any thing with these wrinkles sweeping our faces.

highlighting (4-5 minutes) • To provide a model of the task and highlight useful words and phrases

As pre-listening teach some blocking words you thing they need to go smoothly through the listening task. project some picture that can help them understand these words.

while listening (5-7 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice listening.

1- Introduce the two characters to the Ss and tel them they are going to listen to a conversation between two friends about Tony and Marilyn. 2- Ask Ss to listen carefully and try to figure out how did they change their appearance. 3- Give Students hand out 1. 4- after listening let them check with their pairs and give feedback.

clarifying and analyzing TL (10-13 minutes) • Let Ss try to discover the TL meaning and rule by themselves.

1- Reflect the picture of Tony and ask the Ss these sentences who cut Tony's hair? Give Ss hand out 2 a) Tony cut his hair . b) Tony had his hair cut. 2) let them check in pairs. 3) Clarify the meaning of the grammar. 4) To elicit the form of the TL give student hand out 3 . In pairs let them complete the table with the correct verb form. Then ask Ss to decide which of the sentences are unlikely or unusual. 5) Give students hand out 4 let them write the form themselves. 4) Clarify the form of the grammar. 5) Clarify the pronunciation. Like stress and strong and weak forms. 6) Clarify any anticipated pronunciation problems.

Controlled practice 1 (5-7 minutes) • To get students to practice TL in controlled context.

1- Give Ss hand out 5. 2- Tell them to underline the most appropriate verb in each case. 3- Draw their attention that they must read the whole sentence to find out the correct answer. 4- Let them check in pairs then with other groups. 5- Give feedback and check understanding.

Controlled practice 2 (6-8 minutes) • To get students to practice TL in a controlled context.

1- Give Ss hand out 6. 2- As a demonstration go through the example with the class. 3- Ask Ss to complete the remaining questions individually. 4- Check thy'v formed all questions correctly before putting them to check in pairs.
