Description

This lesson continues with a similar context to the previous lesson, but the focus is on Grammar. The class starts with a listening task related to the TL. It continues with clarification of the TL through the transcription of the text. Finally students will practice the TL through a productive activity

  • To provide accuracy speaking practice in a questionare in the context of personal experinces
  • To provide specific information listening practice using a text about have you ever.... in the context of Experience of shopping and not wearing it

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

- Ask the SS: " Have you ever bought anything you never wore? why? what was the problem?"

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

- Explain that 4 people are going to answer to the same question. - Give them HO 1 - Listen and say what things they talk about. Number them - SS check their answers in pair - SS listen for the second time and say what the problem was - Put the answer key on the wall and board. SS check their answers(HO 2)

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

- write the marker sentences on the board I bought black leather from a second-hand shop 20 years ago I have bought something I never wore

Clarification (10-15 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

- Put the SS in groups of 3 - Give the SS HO 3 about guided discovery - Ask them to find the marker sentences in their context - Ask the SS to answer the questions - Monitor them carefully - Change the members of groups so that the SS check their answers together - Ask CCQs - Work on the form - Elicit the stress and pronunciation of the contracted words - Drill -

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

- Give the SS handout 4 ( Speaking exercises) - SS answer individually - SS check their answers in groups - Give them the answer key (HO 5)

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

- Give the SS handout 7 - SS stand up and ask each person 3 questions from the HO - The teacher monitors them carefully and takes note for delayed error correction
