Main Aims

  • To provide specific information listening practice using a text about extreme interview

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a Job interview

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Remind Ss the picture from the previous lesson. Ask if they can remember what it showed. Ss work in pairs and discuss: 'Have you ever been for a job interview?' 'What kind of questions did they ask?' 'Did you get the job?'

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

i will explain the listening that they are going to go about it

Useful Language (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

Predict unfamiliar words from the listening script and quickly pre-teach a few of these items to Ss eg 'reincarnated, flustered, kick a dog, turn it down, fond of'

Productive Task(s) (18-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

At this stage they will be given the question paper so they start interviewing each other in pairs or small group depending on the number of students

Feedback and Error Correction (8-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

Errors will be written down so after the activity students are going to be informed of their mistakes and errors.
