Description

In this lesson the students will be learning about adjectives ending in -ed and -ing.They will find out the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language.Next, they will be asked to complete some sentences by selecting the right answer as controlled practice.After that, they will do an exercise adapted from the coursebook for semi-controlled practice.Finally, they will choose a topic from some cards to discuss using the target language.

Main Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a free activity in the context of daily life

Procedure

Lead in (4-5 minutes) • To set the lesson context and engage students

Ask the students whats their favourite Tv programmes on Digiturk. Tell them to talk to their parners about it. Ask them some questions about the Tv programmes What type are the programmes? How do they make you feel? Can you describe them?

Exposure (3-5 minutes) • To provide context for the target language

Now project some pictures on the white board What kind of programmes are the people watching ? How do you think the people watching are feeling? let the students speak with their peers for a moment Write at the corner of the board any adjectives relevant to the lesson they use. now ask the students to to do a matching exercise for descriptions with adjectives. let the students peer check.

Clarification (7-8 minutes) • To draw studnets attention to target language and to clarify on meaning form and pronounciation for the same.

After they are done display the answers on the whiteboard now the target language is on the WB To encourage guided discovery, before clarification and asking questions first give them a minute to talk about the sentence Are there any differences? Then go over the examples one by one 1. Ask questions about meaning (as stated in the language analysis) Write the meaning infront of the sentence 2.Check the form what part of the speech is the describing words What comes before the adjectives. 3. Check the pronounciation Where the adjectives are stressed, individually then in a sentence Drill individually then chirally

controlled practice (9-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare the students for a more meaningful practice

tell the students to work in pairs Tell the students to choose the correct adjective to complete the sentences Give the students the exercise After they are done the can check their answers with another pair in class teacher will do monitoring during the activity check sentences you think they have a problem with. project the answer key.

Semi-controlled practise (7-8 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare the students for te freer practice

students work in groups of three teacher asks the students to complete sentences with correct form of the adjectives in the box then gives the exercise after the students are done they check in with the other group. teacher projects the answer key.

Freer Practice (8-9 minutes) • To provide the students with freer practice of the target language.

Change the students to seat with different partners Tell them they will be given a set of cards including topisc to discuss Tell the students to discuss how they would feel in those situations FB ask a student from each group to talk about what their partners said
