Description

In this lesson students will learn and use some vocabulary about charity works. This will be included in a listening context talking a trip to Africa. Students will be interest in the lesson through a picture description activity. Then, they will be asked to discuss the pictures. After that, they will read some questions question in order to find their answer while listening. Later, they will be asked to read some sentences with incorrect pieces of information and to try to correct them. Then, they will listen and check whether they were correct or not. Finally, they will be asked to get in groups in order to talk about a person they know who does charities.

Procedure

Leadin (3-5 minutes) • I will activate students' existing knowledge of the topic and generate interest in it

This will be done through describing some pictures about a family volunteering to help African children.

pre-teaching vocabulary (5-10 minutes) • To pre-teach some vocabulary needed to help students understand the text

I will give them the meanings of some vocabulary. Having found the right words, I will show them handouts of the vocabulary.

Listening for a gist (3-5 minutes) • To encourage students to listen for a gist.

I will ask students to read some questions and to guess the answers. Then, they will listen to the text in order to know whether their answers were correct or not.

Listening for specific information (5-10 minutes) • To practice listening for specific information

I will ask students to work in groups in order to read six points about the listening text. Then, they will listen and discuss them.

Reading for details (5-8 minutes) • To practice listening for detailed comprehension

Students will be asked to read some sentences in pairs in order to correct some wrong information. Then, they will listen and check if they are correct.

speaking task (5-7 minutes) • To develop oral fluency on the topic

I will ask students to form groups and to talk about a charity activity they or someone they know have shared in.
