Main Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a discussion in the context of Across The Globe

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide gist listening practice using a text about Visitng London in the context of Across The Globe

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (1-2 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

SS will watch some pictures to identify the topic. They will name the country and its city in the pictures show from the OHP

Exposure (3-4 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

In PW-GW, SS will participate in a challenge to prepare them for the gist/ listening part where they will do a True-False task. SS will have to come to board and write (T) or (F) next to each sentence. a rewarded point for each correct answer will be given. answers will be checked with the teacher at the end

Useful Language (2-3 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

Vocab check for some words that will be included in the L part (Vintage- Functioning- Urban). PW to check the words and identify the unfamiliar one. FB to make sure the SS affirm them.

Productive Task1 (2-3 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

SS will discuss in pairs to choose the best summary related to the audio they will listen. Correct answer will be checked after L.

Skim-Gist Listening (2-3 minutes) • To improve the receptive skill (listening)

SS will practice gist listening (audio1) to conclude the 'best summary' which is in relation with the previous task.

Scan Listening for details/specific information (5-10 minutes) • To improve the receptive skill (listening) and interact eaiser with the target language

Pre-task GW: SS will have a look at handouts given to them, they will see some nouns and information. listening (audio 2) to find some information in the text, following that, in GW, SS will link each noun with its information.

Feedback- Free practice (15-20 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

In PW, SS will have five minutes to prepare a conversation. Five recommended places to visit they need to choose, they will ask and answer these questions: 1-where is it? 2- why they recommend it? 3- how many days should stay there? 4- what are the famous places they should visit? peers will exchange the role of asking-answering questions for every new place.
