-T shows a comic on the OHP and asks ss "What's wrong in the picture?" "What do you see?" to elicit the idea that one action is happening now and the other one is a habit.

Highlighting (6-7 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

-T divides the board vertically in two. On the left, T sticks some pictures about Mary's normal life.T elicits present simple sentences about her usual life. On the right of the board T sticks contrasting pictures to establish where she is right now- ie. on holiday in another country. T gets students to extend the original sentences with present cont. endings to show the contrast between her ordinary life and what she is doing now. -T turns on the OHP and shows some verb forms taken from the text that ss have just finished reading the previous lesson. -Then asks students to write whether those forms are in Present Simple or Present Cont. They will have 1 minute to work alone and 1 minute to check the answers with their partners. -Teacher demonstrates the first form on the OHP and lets them start. Once they finish answering and checking, T shows the answers on the OHP.

Clarification (5-6 minutes) • To clarify the meaning of the target language

-T shows ss the HOs and tells them that they need to match the highlighted forms to the meanings. T demonstrates the first example on the OHP and tells them that they have 3 minutes to work individual first then check their answers in pairs. T shows the A.K after they finish. - T shows a slide on OHP and elicits stative and active verbs. Then T tells ss that they will have some cut out words, they are asked to put them in order to form questions and sentences. Each student will have 4 sentences, they will work on their own and after the task, they do peer check.

Controlled Practice (9-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

-T shows the letter on OHP and asks ss; Who the e-mail is from and who is it to.(It's from George to a friend, Andrew.) - T asks ss to answer the questions on their own in 1 minute. Also, teacher reminds them that they need to skim the letter. When they finish they check their answers with their partners. What's his new job? How did he get it? -Now T asks ss to fill in the blanks with the correct form of PC or PS. They will do the exercise on their own and check their answers with their partners in 7 minutes.

Semi-Controlled Practice (9-10 minutes) • To provide students with practice of the target language
