Main Aims

  • To provide specific information and detailed listening practice using a text about describing people's physical appearance in the context of tour groups

  • To provide accuracy speaking practice in a conversation about describing people in the context of tour groups


Lead in (5-7 minutes) • To show the context of the lesson and engage the students in the lesson

Teacher projects an image of a man and a woman talking on phone. Teacher activates Students existing knowledge of the subject.

Prediction task (3-6 minutes) • to encourage students to think about content of the the text and give them a reason to listen to the text.

Teacher asks students questions to elicit the adjectives for describing people. Teacher lets students to work in pairs to come up with new adjectives .

Pre- Teach Vocab (8-9 minutes) • to expose the new vocabulary and prepare the student for the listening practice

Teacher gives students two packs of paper strips and asks them to match them. Students work in pairs and match the adjectives with their related pictures. Teacher monitors and observes. Teacher provides feedback to the students. Teacher provides CCQs. Teacher drills vocab.

Teacher gives students an exercise and asks students to listen carefully and answer it. teacher asks students to share their answers . teacher gives feedback to the class by projecting the answers on the board. Teacher uses examples from the listening to show the students on TL in Functional Language box on page 29.
