in this lesson the students will be learning vocabulary associated with memory. the teacher will elicit the words from the students using visuals to set the context then the students will match the words with their definitions and thereafter the teacher will clarify the language paying attention to meaning,form and pronounciation.finally the students will practice using the languagein a controlled and freer practice,

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification of words associated with memory in the context of remembering and forgetting

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of day to day experiences

Procedure

Lead in (3-5 minutes) • set the context and generate interest in the reading

tell the ss that you are going to project some picture on the wall Ss only watch Individually the Ss write down what they saw See if they have all the answers or not check in pair introduce the vocabulary by eliciting Remember forget remind recognise

Test 1 (6-8 minutes) • to test the students on what they already know about the vocabulary

Tell the Ss to work in pairs Match words with the definitions get the Ss to move and check their peers matching project the words with their correct definitions on the WB In pairs the Tell the Ss to cross out phrases which can not follow the new words (verbs) Monitor to check where the Ss have difficulties WC feedback

Feedback to test (12-15 minutes) • To clarify the meaning ,pronounciation and form of the verbs

To clarify the meaning use -CCQs -opposite of words Form -items coming before or after these words in sentences -Phrases For pronounciaton -stress -sylabbles

Test 2 (8-10 minutes) • Give students a chance to put the clarified language into use

Tell the Ss to individually complete sentences with the appropriate words In pairs Ss check in with their partners project the answer key

Freer Practice (5-7 minutes) • to give students a chance use the language in a freer context

tell the Ss in pairs to choose 4 Questions out of a list to ask their partners Ss exchange their partners and repeat the same exercise Monitor to check if they are undertaking the task Wc feedback
